Rizwan Ur Rashid

I am Rizwan Ur Rashid, an academic and industry professional with more than 25 years of teaching experience and more than 10 years of industry and management experience. My academic background includes an MS in Computer Science from NED University, a Master's in Industrial and Business Mathematics from the University of Karachi, and a Bachelor's degree in Statistics. I am also currently pursuing my PhD, with my research focusing on the application of GIS and Machine Learning to the spatio-temporal analysis of retail sales and socioeconomic variation in Karachi. Throughout my academic career, I have served in teaching, academic leadership and administrative positions, including senior roles at PAF-KIET and Mohammad Ali Jinnah University. I have also taught at several universities as adjunct faculty. Alongside academia, I have gained significant industry experience, particularly in operations, audit, distribution, business processes, data analysis, KPIs and organizational improvement. I believe this combination of academic and practical experience is particularly relevant to the role of Professor of Practice. My objective would be to bridge the gap between theory and practice by bringing real-world business problems, industry case studies, data-driven decision-making and practical projects into the classroom. I would also like to contribute beyond teaching through industry linkages, student mentoring, curriculum development, applied research, internships and professional development. I see the Professor of Practice role as an opportunity to help students become not only academically qualified but also professionally competent and ready to contribute to industry and society.
