Cookies and recordings notice

Updated on 25 October 2026 · Version 1 · What changed اردو میں پڑھیں

This notice explains the small files and storage our website uses on your device, and how class recordings work. For everything else, please read our Privacy policy.

In short

  • We use only the cookies our website needs, plus Google Analytics on our public pages when it is switched on and allowed.
  • We use no advertising cookies, and social media sites cannot track you on our pages.
  • Classes may be recorded. A notice before you join, and a REC sign during the class, tell you.
  • Only the class, their parents, the teacher and our office can watch a recording. Recordings are kept for as long as the institute runs, unless we agree to delete one.

Cookies we use

A cookie is a small file that a website stores in your browser.

Cookies the website needs to work. We do not ask before using these, because the website cannot work without them.

  • e360_session keeps you signed in, remembers your language, and protects our forms from misuse. It goes when you close your browser, or after 30 days if you tick Keep me signed in.
  • e360_consent remembers your answer to our analytics question, for 180 days.
  • A trusted-device cookie is set only if you tick "This is my own device" when you sign in with two-step sign-in. Then we do not ask for a code on that device for 30 days.

Cookies set only when you open a friend's referral link, or sign up with a referral code:

  • e360_ref remembers the referral code for 30 days, so your friend gets the credit if you join.
  • e360_did is a random number that helps us stop misuse of referrals. We store only a scrambled version of it. It lasts 400 days.

A cookie set only when you choose a currency for our prices:

  • e360_cur remembers the currency you chose in the currency box (with the globe) on our public pages, for 1 year, so our prices are shown in that currency. We never use your internet address to guess where you are.

Google Analytics cookies. These are set only on our public pages (such as the home page, course and teacher pages, and the sign-in and sign-up pages), and only when we switch Google Analytics on.

  • _ga and a second cookie whose name starts with _ga let Google Analytics count visits, and know when two visits come from the same browser. They last up to 2 years.
  • In Pakistan, we count visits without asking first. You can say no at any time with Cookie choices at the bottom of the page.
  • Outside Pakistan, we ask you first. If you say no, or do not answer, Google Analytics stores no cookies on your device.
  • If you say no, we also remove any Google Analytics cookies already set.
  • Even when you say no, Google's code still loads on these public pages. It may send Google basic information without cookies, such as the time, the page, the page you came from and your browser type.
  • Google Analytics never runs on the pages you see after signing in.
  • Advertising features are always switched off, and we tell Google not to use the information for ads. The statistics never contain your name, email address or phone number.
  • You can read how Google uses this information in Google's privacy policy.

What we do not use: no advertising cookies, and no social media tracking pixels or buttons. Our "Follow us" links are plain links. Videos and maps from YouTube, Vimeo or Google Maps on our public pages load only when you press play or open them. Then that company's own cookies and privacy policy apply.

Storage in your browser

Our website also keeps some things in your browser's own storage. They stay on your device, and we cannot see most of them.

  • Your choice of a light or dark screen.
  • Classroom settings, such as the layout, the camera and microphone you chose, and data saver.
  • Video player settings, such as playback speed.
  • Help Centre settings.
  • Courses you looked at recently, and courses you saved or are comparing before you sign in. When you sign in, saved courses are added to your account.
  • Announcements you have closed, so they do not show again.
  • A short-term copy of what you are typing in a long form, so that nothing is lost if your connection drops.
  • Your place in a walkthrough by Qalam, our helper.
  • Lessons and recordings saved for offline use, only if we switch the offline library on. They are stored encrypted, show your name and a code while playing, and are removed when your access ends, or after 14 days if they are not renewed online.
  • Flashcard progress, only if we switch flashcards on.
  • The app's own files, so that pages open quickly and some pages work without internet. We do not use these to track you.

You can delete all of this at any time in your browser's settings.

Live classroom

  • Classes run on our own media server, Education360 Live. Video and sound go only between your device and our server.
  • Your browser asks your permission before our classroom can use your camera and microphone. You can turn them off at any time. The teacher decides who may speak, show video, draw or share a screen.
  • Video and sound are not stored, unless the class is recorded.
  • Class chat is saved with the class, and our safety filter checks it (see our Safeguarding policy). Parents can read their child's class chat, including private messages, and our office can read all class chat.
  • Your attendance is worked out from the minutes you are connected.
  • To connect you, our media server needs your device's IP address.
  • Live captions: when live captions are switched on and someone presses CC, our software writes captions for everyone who speaks. Everyone sees a "Live captions" sign.
  • Data saver hides other people's video to use less mobile data.
  • You can test your device and connection before a class at education360.online/live/check.

Class recordings

Who records. Only the class's teacher, or our office, can start a recording. Before you join, a notice says that the class may be recorded. While it is recording, everyone sees a REC sign.

What is recorded:

  • When the whiteboard or a screen is shared: the whiteboard or the screen, with the teacher's camera in a small corner.
  • When nothing is shared: the camera of the person speaking, or of the person the teacher chose to show. Often this is the teacher. If that person's camera is off, their name is shown instead.
  • The sound of everyone who speaks.
  • The class name, with the date and time, at the top.
  • In breakout rooms, the recording follows the teacher who is recording.
  • Class chat is not part of the video, but it is saved separately with the class.

After the class. The recording is prepared on our own server. The teacher checks it, can cut, mute or hide parts, and then shares it. Our office keeps the original, including any parts the teacher removed.

Who can watch:

  • the students of that class, or of the whole course if the teacher chooses, and their parents;
  • for a one-to-one class, only that student and their parents;
  • the teacher, and our office.

Students who have finished a course can keep watching its recordings, unless we remove old recordings. Downloads are off unless the teacher allows them. We record who has watched, so that teachers can see it. Replays of free events are open to the people who registered, for 30 days.

How long we keep recordings. For as long as the institute runs, unless we agree to delete one. A recording linked to a safety concern is put on hold until the concern is closed. When an account is deleted, its one-to-one recordings are deleted too, unless they are needed for a safeguarding case.

Captions, transcripts and summaries

  • These are made by our own software on the institute's own computers in Pakistan. No outside AI company receives class sound, transcripts or students' work, and we do not use them to train AI.
  • Live captions usually appear about 1 to 2 seconds after someone speaks. Urdu is shown in Nastaliq script. A computer writes them, so some words will be wrong. The transcript is kept with the class; the teacher and our office can read it. It also becomes the recording's first captions, until better ones are made.
  • Captions on recordings are made after the class. Students can turn them on, read the transcript, and search for what the teacher said. Teachers can correct mistakes. Anything a teacher removed or muted never appears for students. Translations between Urdu and English are marked as machine translations.
  • Summaries, practice questions and flashcards (only when we switch them on) are made from the students' version of the transcript, with names and contact details taken out. A teacher must approve them before students see them. They carry the label "Prepared on the institute's own computers, checked by your teacher".

Your choices

  • Cookies: use Cookie choices at the bottom of our public pages, or block or delete cookies in your browser. Without the e360_session cookie, you cannot sign in.
  • Camera and microphone: you can keep them off, and type questions in the chat instead.
  • Recordings: if you do not want yourself, or your child, to be recorded, tell the teacher or our office. For a one-to-one class, we can ask the teacher not to record. In a group class, if your camera and microphone stay off, you will not be seen or heard in the recording.
  • Deleting a recording: you can ask us to delete a recording, or a part of one, or to remove you from it. We will agree where we can. Sometimes we need to keep it, for example if other students still need it to learn, or for a safeguarding case.
  • Captions: if you do not want what you say to be captioned, tell the teacher. You can type in the chat instead of speaking.
